Originally trained as an opera singer, Catherine found her way to the yoga mat after an unexpected neck injury put her operatic career on hold. While recovering from this set back, she found comfort, peace, inspiration and healing in her yoga practice. Yoga offered her insight into the art of patience, self acceptance, dedication and what it means to live fully in the present moment. Through yoga, Catherine was able to regain the confidence necessary to reenter a career in classical music. Even though she was singing professionally again, Catherine remained committed to her daily practice, which provided her with a sense of balance and self-care in a highly competitive field. Having experienced the life changing benefits that yoga can offer, Catherine felt compelled to share what she had learned and help others through yoga. Catherine completed her 200 hour-RYT teacher training in 2015 at Pure Yoga under Kay Kay Clivo and Yogi Charu, and pursued a further 200 hours of training under Miles Borrero in an advanced teacher training and mentorship.  She recently completed her 500 hour-RYT certification with an emphasis in yoga therapeutics in a medical yoga training led by Dana Slamp, and Drs. Christopher Walling and Loren Fishman.

Catherine currently teaches at Chelsea Piers Sports Center, Regenerate82 and privately in New York City. As a volunteer team leader through New York Cares, Catherine leads a weekly yoga and meditation class at Regent Family Residence, a coalition for homeless families with children. She also taught weekly community classes at Pure West in the fall of 2015.  Through teaching, Catherine realized that teaching yoga was a meaningful and uplifting experience, both for her and her students. Combining her musical talents with yoga makes Catherine's classes a unique experience. She often begins and ends her Vinyasa classes with chanting and mantra, which she accompanies on the Lute, encouraging her students to connect to their voices and to each other.  At Chelsea Piers, she teaches fun, fast paced and athletic Vinyasa flow classes, as well as slow flow and restorative based classes. Additionally, Catherine teaches weekly restorative yoga, yoga nidra, and chair yoga for seniors at Regenerate82. Highly valuing the importance of alignment and safety, Catherine's teaching specializes in breaking down advanced poses, warming up the body accordingly, and encouraging her students to believe that anything is possible.
